Becoming a Legal Assistant
Legal assistants, also called paralegals, are behind-the-scenes lawyers; while they are prohibited by law from entirely handling a case, many lawyers use them to prepare documents and research before they appear in court. Because legal assistants have so much responsibility, they are specially trained to earn paralegal certificates, and are doing so at increasing rates as they are given increasing responsibility.
