Court Reporter Career Future Job Outlook
The demand for court reporters will continue to grow in the next ten years, spurred on by a constant demand for them in the courtroom, but also by the increasing need to close-caption television. (By 2006, all new televisions must be captioned for the deaf and hard-of-hearing.)
Courtrooms are trying to limit the cost of court reporters, and have begun to install recording devices in some courtrooms. However, these do not provide the same easy access as a written transcript, and should not be threatening to those who wish to pursue a career in this field.
