It is perhaps most famous for the Monterey Bay Aquarium, where sea otters frolic and children and adults alike get what is perhaps their first look close-up of the aquatic life so close to the California coastline. Monterey is a rambling city-a city where restaurants are crowded among historic wharfs and shops are nestled between them.
