Optometric Technician Career Required Training
While most paraoptometrics are trained on the job by the optometrists for whom they work, there are also formal education and training programs in this field. Prospective optometric technicians can complete a two-year associate's degree program offered by community colleges and colleges of optometry. The Council on Optometric Education of the American Optometric Association has accredited six of the technician programs.
