System Administrator Career Coursework
The most successful applicants will have a bachelor's degree in computer science or information systems, although there is no universally accepted way to prepare for a job as a computer support specialist. Those interested in becoming computer support specialists or systems administrators must have strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, since troubleshooting and helping others is a vital part of the job. They must communicate effectively on paper, via e-mail and in person. These employees must constantly keep their skills current and acquire new ones. Many continuing education programs are offered by colleges and universities, employers, hardware and software vendors and private training institutions.
